BEASTLY THEORIES - is a low tech, low key, low brow endeavour, hosted by author of Beasts of Britain & Beasts of the World book series - Andy McGrath, as an attempt to discuss the highs and lows of paranormal research and obsession. Although ’podcast’ in name, the ’show’ is more of an exercise in nepotism, as Andy seeks conversation with those embroiled in the subject he is chiefly interested in, and determines to avail himself (and you) of the prize of knowledge that lies inside their brawny brains.

Join me as I chat with Explorer, William Gibbons about his travels to remote corners of the world in search of strange and unknown creatures.
We discuss his trials and tribulations in the swamps of the Congo Basin, where he embarked upon several expeditions in search of a monstrous sauropod-like animal, known locally as the Mokele Mbembe; as well as his hunt for other dinosaur-like creatures, such as the Ngoubu (an unknown species of rhino or a ceratopsian dinosaur), Emele Ntouka (an elephant sized aquatic rhino), and the Mbielu, Mbielu, Mbielu (an alleged living relative of the Stegosaurus).
He also recounts the Congolese government designating the area surrounding Lake Tele as a national park in response to local chieftains demanding extortionate fees from explores and film crews and even kidnapping a Japanese TV crew for ransom!
Later, we talk about giant spiders, such as the: J'ba F'fofi; reports of living pterosaurs around the world; and his unexpected encounter with the Ogopogo.
William also recounts his time spent with some of the trail blazers of cryptozoology; such as: Dr. Roy P. Mackal, Bernard Heuvelmans and Arlene Gaal, along with many others... and lays out his plans for a new expedition in 2023.

Denver is an author with a passion for cryptozoology, the paranormal, lost civilizations and ancient history, and all things unexplained. In 2016, the Virginia native released his first book, People Are Seeing Something, which makes a case for the existence of lake monsters in the United States and Canada; since then, he has gone on to author Giants: Men of Renown, Strange Tales From Virginia’s Mountains, and several other books covering cryptozoology and the paranormal including my personal favourite - Water Monsters South of the Border!
We talk about his journeys across the USA in search of fringe phenomena, such as ancient petroglyphs that appear to depict extinct species living alongside ancient man; giant earthen mounds that are purported to be the tombs of giants and pygmy peoples; and ask if a remnant of mammoths and mastodons could have survived until recent times?
Later, Denver relives his lake monster sightings and toys with the concept of preferential perception (preferential effect/looking) to explain his strange encounter!

Join me as I chat with Bigfoot researcher - Charlie Raymond, founder of the Kentucky Bigfoot Research Organization, who has tirelessly documented Bigfoot encounters in Kentucky, for over 3 decades!
Charlie has interviewed countless witnesses, conducted investigations and expeditions in the hopes of one day proving that a "flesh and blood" unidentified hominin, that is very closely related to humans, inhabits the wilds of Kentucky
We talk investigative techniques, such as using track traps and analogue cameras, as well as the possibility that Bigfoot may be able to see the infrared light of our trailcams!
Charlie believes that these creatures are masters of the forest, and that any attempt to sneak up on them is an exercise in futility. That is why he organises group expeditions and campouts in well known hotspots, to illicit the curiosity of these elusive creatures in a non-threatening way, and draw them near to camp!
One day, he hopes to establish laws in Kentucky to protect these magnificent creatures.

Yes, cryptozoology can be very serious sometimes and occasionally even a little strange... but can it be funny?
I am happy to report that the answer to this is a resounding..."hell yeh!" and that a major source of this amusing mimicry resides in the Creepy Acres Team, who self-identify as: 'A mix of cryptid puppets telling fart jokes and swearing and posts on historical Cryptid sightings.'
At the helm of this fantasy fun time experience is Shawn Engelmann - Artist, Researcher and Puppeteer!
Join us as we discuss his indoctrination into the world of cryptozoology and the paranormal; his motivation in making light of the mysterious; and why he believes the cult of bigfoot and the paranormal actually add interest to the genre, bringing fresh devotees, who would otherwise never consider the possibility that undiscovered creatures may exist!

We discuss the credibility of the theories surrounding a transient Nessie presence, fuelled by occasional visitors from the sea, to the possibility that the beast represents a small, long lived population of resident reptiles, that have inhabited the loch since the time before time!
We also critique the 7 rivers of Loch ness and the river mouth, or Inver Village theory, (Inver, meaning river mouth in Scots Gaelic) which proposes that since the majority of all Nessie sightings (that are not mid loch sightings) are observed around these river mouths, that these are likely hotspots where we are likely to capture evidence of our predatory cryptid in action!
